In loving memory of Merlin

Last night mummy came home very emotional. I was very confused. Did I do something naughty to upset her? Soon, I heard her getting ready to leave the house. I wonder what's going on? Then daddy came home and I heard her telling daddy about what the sad news was. Her best friend's cat has just left the world. The photo above is of Merlin, Amanda and mum. Isn't he gorgeous? It was really sudden and it was due to liver failure. His name was Merlin and he was the best cat that mum ever knew. Mum was never a cat person and is really terrified of cats because of an incident that happened to her dad when she was a young girl. He was attacked by a stray cat and that left a really deep impression in her mind. The impact was so great that she used to freeze when a cat comes close by and she would do anything to avoid being near one. However, Merlin was very very special.

When mum first made the decision to move to Australia for her residency, she lived with her best friend, Amanda for a few months. However, she missed home and my sisters (Minnie and Muffin) heaps. Merlin was a great source of support. He used to be the one that mum sobs to deep in the middle of the night everynight. Mum had problems sleeping because she was so homesick and she constantly wondered if she had made the right decision. Merlin just sits there quietly and let her cry into his warm snuggly body. His consistent purring was what helped to calm mum down enough to drift off to a night's rest. Without him, mum won't have made it so easily. She might have given up and went home.

Here's a tribute to the most wonderful cat that mum ever knew:

Watching as the days goes by
Touching the heart whose those had cried
Photos of memories will be in mind
Never will your legacy die

Existing in the time of you and mine
Tears, with which that can't be dried
Sadly missed by all who remains
Grateful for the chance of knowing you
Waiting for the time to be reunite

Goodbye my dear Merlin!
You've been more than just a cat
Not in my life. Not in time.
It'll never be a real goodbye.
Till we meet again is right.
Fond memories of you will live

Merlin will live in the hears of everyone who knew him. Let us all reflect in his beauty and the love that Merlin has taught to many...
